The first four images are of the massive
inflow jets that were occuring with this supercell. Yes, image four was that black! This was by far the greatest inflow jet. It almost totally drowned out the light on the horizon, keep in mind this is between 7:30PM and 8:00PM when there is plenty of light left. Image 5 is the same inflow jet in image four as it approached us heading south on highway 77. The inflow jet is denoted by the dark band just above ground level while the outflow can actually be seen halfway up until the cloud base. It was so strong that we slowed to about 20 miles an hour to keep from being blown off the highway. Story Page Mammatus clouds Gustnadoes Shelf/Wall cloud Funnel/Tornado |
