Martinsburg Nebraska June 5, 1999      On this particular chase we tracked a storm which developed in Cuming county Nebraska. By the time we had reached West Point, the original cell had weakened, BUT... our attention soon turned to a second storm which developed in Pierce county some 60 miles west-northwest. This cell produced two spotter confirmed touchdowns, one by Pierce and the second near Belden. We finally intercepted this storm on Highway 9 two miles south of Wakefield. We traveled the highway another 14 miles where the images in this section were taken a mile northeast of Martinsburg. The storm finally weakened and crossed into Iowa then Minnesota where it eventually regained its strength.
